Marina B. Blanco
Marina is an anthropologist turned lemurologist, interested in the ecology and biogeography of the elusive, nocturnal mouse and dwarf lemurs of Madagascar. Throughout her studies, first at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina and later at University of Massachusetts, USA, her research focus shifted from humans to monkeys to lemurs. After visiting Madagascar in the mid-2000s, she became fascinated by the evolutionary history of lemurs, and the metabolic strategies used to cope with energy-constrained environments. Marina prefers to be in the field with research teams, tracking lemurs at night, or documenting hibernation expression in dwarf lemurs across Madagascar’s diverse forests.
